Fillmore Library recently wrapped up a computer basics series in partnership with the Economic Development Collaborative’s Upskill Digital Initiative.

The 10-week course welcomed five Fillmore residents to learn essential digital literacy skills needed in today’s world. The series was targeted at adult learners interested in gaining computer skills to either find a job or move into a higher-paying job.

Learners, including Maura Reyes (third from left), reported feeling “empowered and more confident” with using technology, as she explored using a computer, searching the internet, searching for jobs, and creating emails.

The course materials were created with the support of California Assemblymember Jacqui Irwin, who secured funding for the program creation and pilot in Ventura County.
